Presented by Iron Oak Canyon Ranch's Animal Care Academy, this segment of our Equine Education series of clinics and classes will focus on the latest techniques in grooming to keep your horse show-ring-ready—or just ready to shine around the barn.
In this class, you'll learn how to groom effectively to bring out your horse’s natural beauty, and prepare them for the show ring. Grooming is an essential part of the care of your horse, whether you’re heading for the Olympics or the trails. Students will learn the basics of brushing, bathing, and braiding, as well as the importance of hoof and leg care. We will also address controversial grooming practices and distribute a list of essential grooming tools and supplies for the health and well-being of your horse.
This class will be taught by ranch owner Lessa Ritzma, whose previous career credits include professional dog and horse groomer, zookeeper, and exotic animal trainer, along with over twenty years of horse experience.
This is an audit-only class with optional participation. A live equine will participate in the demonstration portion, with a lecture and Q&A to follow. All participants will qualify for the Equine Education: Everyday Show Grooming I credit for Iron Oak Canyon Ranch's Equine Education certificate.
$50 per participant for 2-hour class. Limit 10 participants. Weather permitting. For an additional $10, students may purchase a mini training kit, which they can take home and use to immediately apply the principles learned in class to their own horse.
