Self Care:
Iron Oak Canyon Ranch allows for self-care boarding under a modified co-op model. Under this model, boarders who are on self-care are responsible for their horse's feeding and stall cleaning, but may join a cooperative of other self-care boarders to arrange care on days they can't be present. Boarders who are on self-care and do not have the time, resources, or capacity to commit to the care of others' horses can instead opt to complete co-op projects, assigned by ranch management, on their own schedule.
Although this modified co-op model allows for a lot more freedom than a standard self-care boarding arrangement, it comes with some important requirements. All horse stalls must still be cleaned daily, and co-op/self-care horses must still be fed consistently at the same time as ranch care horses. Exceptions to these policies may be made by ranch management, with notice and under certain circumstances, but fines may apply. All self-care/co-op boarders are held to a three-strikes policy for their participation in the self-care/co-op program. After the third strike, the boarder will be moved to ranch care and those rates will apply.

All horses coming onto Iron Oak Canyon Ranch's property must provide proof of vaccinations (5-way and West Nile) within the previous 12 months and deworming of the owner's choice within the previous four months of the horse's arrival. This is mandatory to protect our herd, just as your horse would be protected by this policy after they arrive. There can be no exceptions unless authorized by a licensed, practicing veterinarian, in writing (such as a vaccine allergy).
